Direct shareholdings are still very popular. Although venture capital and private equity funds were one of the most popular types of investment product in the 1990s and early 2000s, investors discovered, to their cost, some of their disadvantages in the wake of the financial crisis of 2008. The long maturities and high fees associated with these products combined with an inability to influence investment decisions have led many investors to part with such funds.
 
Sallfort Privatbank has decided to take a different route and is able to offer its clients access to private equity club deals.
 
These enable investors to invest in specific businesses selected by Sallfort Privatbank. In other words, investors can decide for themselves whether they want to have a direct shareholding in a company.
 
The investment horizon depends on the age of the company concerned with an eye to making an exit – and not on the maturity of an investment product.
 
Fees are performance-based with no management fee.
 
Another important consideration is the expertise of the sourcing and management team.
